"Madame Feller and the Grande Ligne Mission" (Ed Dzalio)
Henriette Feller was born Henriette Odin in Switzerland on April 22, 1800 and came to Canada as a missionary along with a Mr. Roussy in the autumn of 1835. They settled in or around Montreal for some time, but in September 1836, my g-g-g-g grandfather, Jean-Baptiste Leveque (one of Feller and Roussy's converts) opened up his garret for Madame Feller's school work and living. (***See the picture of the log cabin on your webpage...it makes reference to that being the beginning of the school in 1836). Within several years, the school grew and moved into a barn, and then a permanent school building which was opened in 1840. The original Leveque home/school is now a small museum, as you are probably aware, which I have visited twice, once in 1992 and then again in 1997. The vacant (or shell of a) building that I saw when I was there was probably the school that you attended, but I do not believe that this was the school built in 1840.

Prohibitions
1. Damaging any of the school property or furniture.
2. The use of electrical appliances other than those installed by the school.
3. The possession and use of bicycles at the school.
4. Sending or receiving letters, eatables, packages or anything except through or by permission of the Principal.
5. The use of firearms without the consent of the Principal.
6. The use of intoxicating liquor or tobacco in any form.
7. Gambling dice, card playing and reading of doubtful books.
8. The use of profane and indecent language.
9. Scuffling, engaging in loud talk or acting in a boisterous or disorderly manner anywhere within the College.
10.Any communication whatsoever between the boys and girls of the school unless allowed and supervised by the teachers.
11. Radios not allowed.
12. Interference with the personal property and private rights of each student in his own room.
13. The removal of dishes, cutlery, or glasses from the dinning room. (each student is required to have a glass and a spoon of his own for personal use in his room.)
14. Leaving the premises without permission.
